Diego Vega’s compositions span solo, chamber, choral, and orchestral music, incorporating a wide range of aesthetic and technical approaches. Some of his works draw on various Colombian musical traditions, integrating them with contemporary compositional techniques to create his distinctive style. His music has received praise from diverse audiences and critics throughout the Americas and Europe.

Diego Vega’s music has been performed in some of the most important concert halls in the United States, Latin America, and Europe by ensembles such as Cuarteto Latinoamericano, Eighth Blackbird, Soli Chamber Ensemble, the Colombian National Symphony, the Bogotá Philharmonic, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame de Paris, the Paris Brass Quintet and Pascal Marsault, as well as many internationally acclaimed soloists and chamber groups. Vega has written commissioned works for the Colombian National Symphony, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, the Salvi Foundation and the Cartagena International Music Festival, the Bogotá International Sacred Music Festival, and Banco de la República (Reserve Bank of Colombia), among others.

A graduate of Cornell University, University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Universidad Javeriana, he is currently professor of composition and theory at UNLV.
